I'm going to introduce to the latest Grandmaster of the Guild of
Thieves. She has worked hard to be where she is at, and is one
member of the realms many call friend. Her name is Elisabet.
I asked her how she felt about being the new leader, how the members
of the guild felt about it, and just the pressure of being leader.
"In all honesty... I love it, it feels great. I think I have worked
very hard to get where I am. I'm not afraid to say what I feel, so
I'm hoping they respect me. There was some concern that I was "too
new" to the realms, but I think that I am fulfilling their
expectations."
"As for pressure, I feel TONS. I'm typically spammed with like seven
tells at once, write close to a minimum of ten notes a day.
Sometimes I feel like I'm being pulled in twenty different directions
but I wouldn't give it up for anything."
There has been many changes in the leadership of the guild, and
I asked her about her policy and the past changes, her favorite
memories in the guild, and where does she see the guild going?
"Well... I've changed quite a few things...but I started that as First.
I'm trying to keep the basic structure of what has been done in the
past, but I'm me... I'm different... so..."
*shrugs*
"I think mostly I'm doing it my own way."
"One of my favorite times was when I av'd... There were tons of
people on and we had this huge party in the guild. I was drunk
for days from that one. We had this huge game of tag. It was
just a lot of fun. I'd have to say thats my favorite... but there
have been lots of good times."
"As for the future, it looks WONDERFUL! We've got a lot of people
in there who want to make the guild so much more. People are
becoming more and more involved, so all things are growing very
nicely. It makes me very happy to se the way people are working
together."
And with Elisabet in charge it will stay wonderful. And more likely
than not, anyone who gets to know her will call her friend.

Bloodbath Stories
"Heart of Darkness"
Of all my experiences traversing these lands, none compares to the utter
evil I witnessed in the maddening halls of the Abbatoir asylum. I had
heard of a cruel and sadistic mage who dwelled there, inflicting
unfathomable atrocities upon the patients. Being a priest of conscience,
I sought him out to bring him to justice, but even my determination could not
brace me for the carnage that I would soon witness.
With some difficulty, I managed to enter the dark asylum. The agonized
wails and moans haunt me to this day. But at the time, I only clenched my
teeth and continued my hunt with a greater resolve. As I made my way down a
cold corridor, I came across a door of warped and twisted oak. Suddenly, a
morbid shriek the likes of which had never been heard before, even in the
bowels of the Abyss, resounded through the haunting air from behind the door.
I immediately kicked the door open and then recoiled from sickened shock at
the scene that was unveiled. Manacled and tied to the far corner of a padded
room was a disheveled, tortured woman. She was bald, with a bleeding scalp.
Apparently, her hair had been pulled out with force, and all her fingernails
were missing! Dozens, perhaps hundreds, of lacerations covered her emaciated
form. Looming above the hapless woman was the despicable mage, his features
hidden behind a macabre mask of shifting visages. I later discovered his
name was Quorthem. He had been pouring a searing, magical elixir on the
woman's wounds as some sort of inhumane experiment!
Even my battles with the dreaded Lord Seth seemed inconsequential, almost
mundane, compared to the level of depravity that was Quorthem. Mayhap it
was the influence of the asylum on me, but a feral rage consumed me then. I
lunged at the mage with my legendary blade, all thoughts of strategy having
left my mind at the sight of the tortured victim. The mage fled from my
assault and summoned demonic beasts to defend him. But I slew them quickly
and chased after Quorthem into his ghastly laboratory. The sight of his
other gruesome experiments there is too terrible to convey even now. Quorthem
begged for mercy, but I replied with a maniacal snarl, such was my fury.
Then I hacked. I hacked. I hacked. And I hacked. I was covered in the
mage's blood and guts, but he was not yet dead. I would serve justice true
this time. So I tortured his battered form at length before he finally
died.
What had I done? I had arrived for moral reasons, and there I stood,
devoured by anger, vengeance, corruption...villainy. Quorthem was not just
the embodiment of evil, but he was also the terrible mirror to my own heart of
darkness. I may have killed him, but in the end, it was he that won. As I
walked out of that cursed asylum, my shoulders slumped without energy. The
only words that escaped my mouth were, "The horror! The horror!"

The forest smelled of moldy wood and rotting branches.
Rain washed away dust and needles from pines remained.
Dark gray clouds rolled overhead blocking too bright rays.
Stellar's Jays and Ravens called out in hoarse voices.
Tracks in mud lead to wet rocks marring the conformity.
I sat there in anguish.
Self-loathing clutching limbs, stilling shaking useless arms.
Heart aching, tearing in devastating unknowing want.
Fog of despair numbing touch and hazing the mind's eye.
Cries, soundless in crushing wretched desire to call out.
Tears refusing to come, birthing another failure.
The forest watches in silence.
I came here in pain burning and muffling my soul.
Looking for an answer, a beginning, or an end.
Uselessness, hopelessness, and confusion filled me.
What was broken? What in me didn't work?
It isn't over still. It's never going to be over.
I live on in dim twilight.

Dear Avvie: I often ask for CRs on the chat, ask,
traffic, and (through my alt) on the avatar channel.
I ask once every ten seconds to make sure the lag
doesn't lose my questions. I've written a
great macro in ZMud that posts it to all channels
automatically. Pretty smart, huh? Anyway, I'm tired of
not getting responses to my CR requests, because
I always have to go back to the Academy to re-equip.
What should I do?

Dear Loobie: As you've noted, people aren't
responding to your requests for help. This is because
you don't know the secret code! If you are below level 20,
you must ask for a CR (using your oh-so-clever macro!)
by typing in the following EXACTLY as I have it here.

This will guarantee instant results, and I can
say for sure that everyone involved will be pleased
with what happens.

Guild of Warriors added to their string of victories
to bring it to a 4:1 win/loss ratio. In the
most recent battle, the GoW and GoP teamed up
against the GoV and GoA and only lost one of
their team before disposing of all their
opponents. Congrats to all who
participated!
The leaders of the GoW would like to thank Edmond
for helping out with some "rude people".

Letters to the Editor
In regards to Solomen's letter in last week's Cry, I must say I
agree that it would have been good to mention that Monty Python
was the original group that wrote the skit, however, I still
think the quest entry was original in that it was chosen and
adapted to what the situation allowed. Would anyone have thought
that it belonged to the Python group unless it had been posted?
So, it's my belief that it was original much the same way broadway
plays adapt screen plays and musicals from other artists such as
The Who and the talented folks that came up with Grease. If it
made you laugh, good, that was it's purpose. If it offended you
by borrowing from a Monty Python skit, I apologize because I
thought that Monty Python's work was worthy of many repeat
performances, whether by the group or their fans so long as the
material wasn't trying to be passed off for original. I didn't
claim this was my own work nor did I even believe that someone
reading this would not recognize that this was from The Holy Grail.
I think that their work should be honored, in doing so it must
be repeated if it is to be enjoyed by a large group of people.
Monty Python's work is some of the most hilarious that I've had
the pleasure of witnessing, as such, I want to include other
people in the same laughter that it brings to me and I can't do
that by secluding my thoughts. I think it's bad when Mystaric
has to apologize for something that was obviously not of her
creation as well as for posting something that was meant to
bring happiness, not sarcasm.

I am sorry to have to send you a mudmail, but I was just curious.
I noticed in this weeks CoD that the guild wars scedule was removed.
Was wondering why was that? That schedule to me has been very helpful
when we are not close to a note board or something, and I would really
appreciate it, if I could be put back. Even though only 2 more weeks left
still very helpful to see what how is fighting and when, what dates and
stuff.
