Sponsorship Into The Newbie Council

The Newbie Council has undertaken a new process of recruiting new members. We only will be doing so through sponsorship by current members of the council. This will be replacing our old method of accepting applications generally.

Sponsorship will be done under strict circumstances and will follow the same guidelines as the application process did in terms of notes needed, time alloted for voting, etc. If you are being sponsored by anyone in the council, make sure they tell you ALL that in involved in this process. In the past, many people have not fully understood how the process is done and have run into trouble. If you have any questions, feel free to ask any current member or immortal of the Council.

If you are being sponsored, please read the notes located on the New Players board in the Academy. You will be required to submit an application which must follow the outline laid out there exactly. These notes may also answer any questions you have on the council.

In considering a position on the Newbie Council, here are a few points you might want to know:

1. To apply, you must at least be level 40. No applicants lower than this will be considered.

2. We are only looking for people who truly enjoy helping others on Realms, because it is part of their personality - not because they will receive something because of it.

3. It is a must that you know the basic commands of Realms, have a fair to good knowledge of lowbie areas, mobs and equipment. You must also have the ability to be calm, patient and able to explain to even the newest of players what is going on and what they must do to enjoy their experience on Realms.

4. Members not expected to be onduty at all times, but are expected to put in at least 4 - 6 hours helping per week. You do not have to spend all your on-duty time helping newbies, but it is expected that you have on all required channels, and respond to any cries for help you may receive while you are "on-duty".

5. The past actions of your character may not necessarily exclude you from joining the council, but if you have a past history of breaking rules and laws, being an antagonistic player or otherwise, this will reflect back on members who are forming opinions of how they should vote on you.

6. Do not bother applying if you simply wish to use NC as a way of gaining immortal-hood. It is a waste of our time and yours if you do. If a member discovers that this is your reason for applying, your application will be denied and you will be notified through mud-mail.

7. You should not apply to NC if you expected to be paid in anyway other than gratitude for your help. Members are expected to earn their own gold for supplies.

The following is the application format for applying to Newbie Council.

Please follow it as it is set out here:

1. Subject line: (YOURNAME) APPLICATION (capitalize this line please)

2. List *all* characters you consider to be your main chars, excluding storage characters. (If you only have one character, please list this as well.)

3. Next, indicate if you have *ever* applied to Newbie Council before, and with which character you did so. Also, indicate what the voting result was on that application.

4. Next, show what guild/order the applying character may belong to.

5. List what hours you are normally online so that members may know when you might be around for interviews.

6. A short explanation why you feel you would make a good addition to Newbie Council.

If your application does not follow this format, or is missing parts, it will not be forwarded for members to vote on. You will be asked to rewrite it in such a case.

So you have been sponsored to join NC. Now what? This is a short description of the process which your application will go through:

Your application will be posted on the Newbie Council headquarter board for all mortal members to look over. After that, they have 2 weeks in which to ask you for interviews, or talk to others about you. This period is so long because we have many members that are on at different times, so we want them to all have a chance to get a fair opinion of you before the voting time starts. After this 2 week period, voting on your application will be opened. This period will last another 2 weeks. After this period is up, an NC immortal will count the votes on your application to see if you have gotten the minimum required for entry to the council. If you have not, you will be notified that you are either barred from applying again, or can apply again at another date. If you have, you will be asked again if you are sure you want to join and inducted into the council. All notifications will take place either through tells or through mudmail.

During your application time, please remember the following:

1. Do not ask members of the council for interviews. They will approach you about it if they are interested in knowing more about you.

2. Do not ask any member, mortal or immortal, to tell you about the status of your application. This information is not to be given out, and if it is, it will result in both you and the member who gave it to be punished.

3. Do not lobby members of NC to vote for you. It will more than likely cause them to vote no if you have hassled them over it.

4. If you are being interviewed, please be punctual and polite. Remember that the NC member interviewing you is giving up their time to see if you are truly interested.

5. Immortal members of NC do *not* cast votes on your application, therefore please do not lobby us for votes or interviews as it will do you no good.

6. Follow the application format when applying. It will help make the process easier if all mortal members who will be voting on you have the information they need about you up front.

Good luck on your sponsorship
