Changes to Guilds

News #789 posted by Kinux on 02/05/09.

In consultation with the Guild Overseer and Advisor, the Council of Elders has decided that a change needs to take place within Guilds. This change is multi -faceted and is meant to encourage guilds to ease up their requirements for induction into the Guild, as a way to give newer players an opportunity to work within the organization as they are getting to know the game.

Guilds are meant to be places of learning and development. As such, we have instituted an "initiate" flag for all Guild leaders to use that will enable them to interview prospective new members, induct them without a quest and allow them to learn and grow as players until they are granted full membership into the Guild. This "initiate" flag would show on who 'guildname' and would be unique for each Guild. It will allow Guild leadership to control where their initiates are going within the guild, and allow them the opportunity to more easily remove new members that are not working out.

As part of the Guild restructuring, we felt that as educational institutions, Guilds would naturally train more in their particular fields. As such, Guilds will enjoy a bonus to certain class based skills, which are chosen by the Guilds themselves. Only full members of the Guild will be able to access these bonuses and they will only work while the player is active in the Guild.

In an era of diminishing player numbers, it is important that we create a welcoming experience for new players to learn the game. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Destre, Akael or a CoE member.
